HUMANITARIANSM

Have you ever tried to imagine a world without any humanitarian around to share some love and uplift those in need, in war, hopeless and helpless?
Do you ever think about how world would be without all these benevolent people to care for the needs of those can’t help themselves and assist them selflessly so as to ensure that their terrible condition do not define them?
Amidst all these increasingly deadly wars, floods.
Hurricanes and other uncontrollable calamities with their associated effects, where would the miserable and destitute find refuge and hope without the altruistic humanitarians holding their hands and walking with them though it all till they can stand again on their own?
Just imagine everyone locked up their giving and supportive hands, how would the innocent and wretched war child survive?
Where would the feeble hurricane survivor look up to for the next shelter or meal?
Where would the abandoned and orphaned street child depend on?

Only when we would understand the TRUE meaning of not having any place to call home, any person to call a parent, any moment that you relax and peacefully enjoy with your loved ones, not because you want it but because something beyond your control has robbed you of the normal life of a human, forcing you out of your home, country or even yourself will you be able to greatly appreciate the efforts of all the humanitarians.
Only when you understand the trauma of watching your loved ones drowning or being shot or slaughtered to death or your starving child, mother or friend breathing their last yet you cannot help because you have likewise not eaten anything or even tasted a drop of water for seven days, will you be able to understand why the world needs more of the humanitarians to comfort, wipe away the tears and hold the hands of the needy.

Humanitarianism is wide; it not only covers those organizations aiding refugees war tone areas or those fighting for women’s rights or those sponsoring street children but it goes deeper into the seemingly small but great act of love when you comfort your brother at home in pain, when you stand by your neighbor’s side in times of need or taking time to nurture your children into influential citizens or even taking care of your own self, you are human too.
The love therefore starts with us; it then flows to our own immediate neighbors then to the world at large.
Your smallest act of love could be the biggest opportunity someone out there is waiting for; it cooled actually be their long awaited miracle. Let’s share the love and grow together. We are all humanitarians.

What if you were in my word, would you live in it for a second, a minute or a day?
Would you view the world as you are viewing now?
Would you welcome your loved ones into it too?
Well, I am the street child and I would love to let you know what my world is like. I have known the street to be a home to me ever since I can remember.
That’s where I was born and raised by a teenage mother who was too helpless. She unfortunately contracted HIV/AIDS and passed an when I was 7.
All I can remember her telling me about my father is that he was a drug addict and a robber we raped her and ran away leaving me in her womb.
The memories of my mother’s death are still clear in my mind, she was so wasted and helpless, on one was there to comfort us
There are may out there just like me who have never known feeling of staying in a home where parents are there to take care of their every need of life, their medication, education, feeding and even their spiritual lives.
They have never tasted the comfort of sleeping in comfortable bed, well covered from the night’s cold, attending sandy school, going out for holidays with parents as a happy family.
All they know is how to fight to get a sack to cover their bodies’ in the chilly rainy nights, as they struggle to get some space to either sleep on a shop verandah or on the empty streets or bush having barely eaten anything throughout the day, falling fast asleep while wondering how he would find food the next day or whether he will even live to see the tomorrow.
The girls are a risk of being raped and infected just like my mother and if no one comes to their aid, they might like her die miserably
Yes, we could be just one or two or a thousand miles away from you all waiting for someone to get closer and whisper to us about love, to comfort and pray with us, to give us a shoulder to lean on, to teach, strengthen, encourage and to tell us that there is someone they we can depend on, someone still cares for us even in our situations, whose love is unconditionally in abundance, someone who is willing to save our lives, give us peace that can be taken away from us and restore our lost hope forever, yet every morning of our lives, we wake up when nothing has changed.
Could you be the person we are waiting for? Or could you help share this message?
